ACE, Invest in Education Foundation, Urge School Choice Reform
AJ Kuhle, the president of ACE Kansas and Missouri, presented compelling insights on the transformative power of educational choice on April 24th alongside the Invest in Education Foundation. Celebrating ACE’s 25-year legacy, Kuhle described how the organization has awarded over 100,000 scholarships totaling nearly $330 million across 12 states, emphasizing the significant demand for educational choice in Kansas and Missouri. The increasing applications for scholarships through ACE, nearly tripling in recent years to reach 36,000, underscore the urgency for reforms like the Educational Choice for Children’s Act (ECCA). Kuhle highlighted the impressive academic achievements of ACE Scholars compared to state averages and portrayed the ECCA as a pivotal legislative opportunity that could expand educational freedom nationwide.
Kuhle’s address was complemented by Nolan Henderson’s personal story, illustrating the real impact of school choice on families. Henderson shared his son Grit’s challenging health journey due to a serious illness and how ACE scholarships enabled Grit to access an educational environment that met his specific needs. He passionately advocated for school choice, underscoring that it is not merely a political issue but one of equity in education that impacts families from all backgrounds.
