Make Educational Opportunity Possible in Kansas

Great news! Kansas is a qualified ACE Scholarships state.

ACE Scholarships has served Kansas families since 2016, helping thousands of students access educational opportunities that work best for them. Now, Kansas has also opted into the Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC), creating a new opportunity for eligible students and families beginning January 1, 2027.

Eligible Kansas taxpayers can commit now to make a qualifying EFTC contribution through ACE Scholarships starting January 1, 2027, when the federal tax credit takes effect.

The EFTC Opportunity Is Coming to Kansas

Kansas’ participation makes EFTC-funded scholarship opportunities available to eligible students beginning in 2027, once applicable requirements are in place.

Kansas already administers a separate state scholarship tax-credit program through approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). The state tax credit has its own rules and requirements.

Does Kansas Have a State Scholarship Tax Credit?

Yes. Kansas offers a separate state scholarship tax credit through the Tax Credit for Low Income Students Scholarship Program.

Eligible individuals and certain businesses can receive a Kansas income tax credit equal to 75% of a qualifying contribution to an approved SGO. Those organizations use contributions to provide scholarships to eligible Kansas students attending qualified schools.

The state program has a statewide annual tax-credit cap of $10 million, and total contributions are limited to $500,000 per contributor per tax year.

ACE Scholarships participates in the Tax Credit for Low Income Students Scholarships Program, giving Kansas taxpayers another way to help make educational opportunities possible for students.
