Make Educational Opportunity Possible in Rhode Island
Rhode Island has declined to participate in the Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC), but you can help make future participation possible.
Eligible Rhode Island taxpayers can commit now to make a qualifying EFTC contribution through ACE Scholarships starting January 1, 2027. Your contribution can help students in participating states while you encourage Rhode Island to opt-in.
Rhode Island’s Current Status
Rhode Island has not yet opted into the EFTC. In June 2026, Governor Dan McKee signed H7163, which requires both the governor and the General Assembly to approve any future decision to participate in the EFTC. The law does not itself determine whether Rhode Island will participate.
