In a recent article by the Catholic News Agency, U.S. bishops express strong support for the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), a proposed federal initiative aimed at expanding K–12 educational options through tax-credit-funded scholarships. While endorsing the bill’s potential to empower families and uphold parental rights in education, the bishops also raise concerns about certain provisions they describe as “poison pill” language, which they fear could undermine religious liberty. They urge lawmakers to amend the bill to ensure it fully aligns with the principles of educational freedom and respects the rights of faith-based institutions.
